Mary Margaret McKain Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    GLENDALE, CA, June 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Mary Margaret McKain with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. McKain celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Longtime musician Ms. McKain is a talented trumpet player who in 1954 joined The Peter Meremblum Junior Symphony. Later, in addition, she played with The Mexican Tipica Orchestra, San Fernando Valley Opera, and a host of others. In 1961 she toured with Iturbi through the Midwest and California. She started her own band, The Pieces of Eight, and has since been a band leader, manager and solo trumpet of the Elks #99 Concert Band and, Peninsula Symphonic Winds, for 21 years. She earned a BA in Music and Police Science from California State University in 1968, and has studied the trumpet under Rafael Mendez, Jane Sager, and Sidney Lazar. She also holds a lifetime college teaching credential.

A sideline musician in conjunction with her musical career, she spent 35 years in law enforcement with the L.A.P.D. and then as the first female deputy marshal for Los Angeles County until they merged with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department until her retirement in 1998.

Active in her local community, Ms. McKain was elected twice as a member of the Quartz Hill Town Council Active Alads and POPA Sheriff's Relief. She is a life member of the Musicians Local #47 and the Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers, member of the Wild Life Federation, the U.S. Humane Society, and the International Police Association, and is a member and former secretary and director of the Marshals Association. Notably, Ms. McKain has been included in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
