David Damian Ramjohn Celebrated for Professional Excellence in His Field

Mr. Ramjohn promotes sustainability and the application of microalgae in a post-petroleum world



    LA GRANGE, TX, June 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David D. Ramjohn has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With over 20 years' experience in sustainable development and environmental and natural resource management., Mr. Ramjohn serves as the Chief Executive Officer of AlgEternal Technologies, LLC, a Texas-based company. In this role, he leads the company in turning microalgae into valuable products such as algae-based soil amendments and skin care products, with the intention to produce nutraceuticals and eventually pharmaceuticals. Mr. Ramjohn also plans to apply microalgae for environmental services such as wastewater remediation, nutrient recycling, and carbon dioxide capture and use. Recognized by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service as an "alien with extraordinary ability in science and business, sustainable development, and renewable resource management and applications (science)", he holds a category O-1A visa, reserved for individuals in the top of their respective fields. He holds a B.Sc. in Marine Biology, cum laude, from the College of Charleston in South Carolina and an M.Sc. in Environmental Studies (Policy and Law). He won the 2004 Bishop Robert Smith Award from the College of Charleston—the highest award given to any graduate of the College, the 2002 Betty Spence Conservation Award from the South Carolina Wildlife Federation, and was the first recipient of the Bill and Jean Lane endowment to attend the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Research Training Program in 2002. Mr. Ramjohn belongs to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Golden Key Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He appeared in the 2004 edition of Marquis' "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities". He is a member of the Noon Lions Club and the Rotary Club of La Grange, Texas, USA and serves on the Board of Directors of both clubs.

A leading voice in the field of sustainable development and the application of microalgae to solving pressing human challenges, he belongs to: the Algae Biomass Organization (ABO), serving on the ABO's Algae Foundation Education and Communication Committees; the Phycological Society of America; the Project Management Institute; and the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago. He has written numerous articles such as "Poverty Reduction and Public-Private Partnerships-Stimulating Private-Sector Contributions to Eradicating Poverty," "Supporting Sustainable Development: Promoting the 'Green' Economy in the Trinidad and Tobago Construction Industry," "Performance Indicators for Achieving Sustainable Development," "Renewable Energy Penetration: Feed-in Tariffs in the Context of Trinidad and Tobago," and "Solar-Powered Equipment and Photovoltaics Installation: Experience in a Developing Country (Trinidad and Tobago, W.I.)." Mr. Ramjohn is a self-proclaimed "algaevangelist," who proposes that algae are the best opportunity for humans to save our place on the planet, keeping the planet hospitable to us, by using algae as the basis of sustainable economic activity in a post petroleum world.
