Mr. Madison is an arbitrator and mediator recognized in the legal industry for his work in alternative dispute resolution and business trial practice. He currently serves in a private practice in Menlo Park, CA, a position he has held since 1995. He previously served Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe as a partner from 1968 to 1995 and as an associate from 1959 to 1967. Outside of the firm, he has shared his expertise as a member of the College of the Board of Commercial Arbitrators, as a trustee of Antioch University from 1980 to 1987, as a member of the board of directors of Planned Parenthood - Alameda/San Francisco from 1984 to 1989, as president of the California Dispute Resolution Council in 2001, and as chair of the California State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee in 2009.

Mr. Madison graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1959 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1956. He was admitted to practice in the state of California; the United States District Court for the Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California; the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the State Bar of California, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the San Mateo County Bar Association, the Mediation Society, the California Dispute Resolution Council, the Dispute Review Board Foundation and the College of Commercial Arbitrators. He is also actively involved with the American Arbitration Association, where he served on the Northern California Regional Advisory Council and on its large complex case panel of arbitrators and mediators.

Mr. Madison was born in White Plains, NY, to parents Raymond S. and Katherine (Sherwin) Madison. Alongside his professional success, he celebrated more than 60 years of marriage to the late Mary Massey. They have three children: Michael, Matthew and Molly. In his spare time, Mr. Madison enjoys soccer. He has acted as a youth soccer coach and referee with the American Youth Soccer Organization for close to 40 years. Mr. Madison also served his country as an officer in civil engineering and active duty in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1956 and in the Active Reserve from 1950 to 1970, before retiring with the rank of Commander.
