Eve La Salle Caram Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Caram has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of languages, education and writing

LOS ANGELES, CA, August 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Eve La Salle Caram with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Caram celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Caram began teaching a course called Fiction Fundamentals in 1983 in the Writers' Program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA Ext.). Twenty years later she was fortunate to teach, among others, a 10 week course called Choices Characters Make: A Workshop on Developing Engaging Fictional Characters, and she spent several years as a fiction writing graduate school instructor at the University of Southern California and has taught other writing courses at UCLA Ext. and at California State University, Northridge. Today she is best known as a very well respected, knowledgeable and talented teacher and writer who currently serves several colleges as a senior Fiction Writing Instructor and one who also teaches Literature courses. In 2006 she won the Outstanding Instructor of Creative Writing Award from the Department of the Arts, UCLA, Ext. in competition with dozens of other instructors.

In the 35 years she has been at UCLA Ms. Caram has come across many different groups of students. In her earlier years a number of her Writers' Program students tended to be young professionals of European decent in their early 30s. Evolving with time, the department has become much more diverse, with students ranging in age from 17 to 70 and beyond, and from many different ethnic backgrounds. Prior to joining the faculty at UCLA Ext., Ms. Caram taught English and Creative Writing at Stephens College and the University of Missouri, Columbia Missouri.

As a writer and educator, Ms. Caram explains that writing is a process of discovery that has a transcendent function which alters both the characters in a story, and the writers themselves, as well as the perceptions and, in some cases, the lives of its readers. The author of DEAR CORPUS CHRISTI in 1991, WINTERSHINE, 1993, RENA, A Late Journey, 2000, THE BLUE GEOGRAPHY, 2005 and TRIO, (which includes 2nd and 3rd printings of RENA and DEAR CC, as well as a new novella, LOOKING For JOHNNY) 2010, Ms. Caram also developed and edited PALM READINGS, Stories From Southern California, 1998. Earlier she was the Fiction Editor of West/Word, UCLA's Literary Magazine. Her new novella, PLEASE, SAN ANTONIO!, along with her UCLA colleague, Cecilia Manguerra Brainard's novella, MELISANDE IN PARIS will be released November lst, 2018 by PALH (Philippine American Literary House) in a Special International Edition. According to Linda Venis, former director of UCLA Extension's Department of the Arts, the book is about "an emotionally isolated American woman's trip to Rome which becomes a powerful quest to find what she has lost: her creativity, identity, and an open place in her heart."

Involved locally in her field, Ms. Caram spent several years as a judge for the California State University Fiction Contest, and she was a panelist for the American Studies Association of Texas and speaker at writers' conferences at various locations. She is a longstanding member of the American Association of University Professors, the Association of California Faculty Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, Poets and Writers, PEN America, and Greenpeace.
Named Outstanding Instructor in Creative Writing by the University of California, UCLA Ext., 2006, Ms. Caram earned an undergraduate degree from Bard College in l956 and a Master's degree from the University of Missouri in l977. The proud parent of a daughter, Bethel Eve Caram, a working actress in New York City, Ms. Caram enjoys the theater and visits to art museums as well as the out of doors, swims and beach walks in her free time. Notably, she has been included in nearly 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Eve La Salle Caram has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
