Linda Kunze Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Linda Kunze has been the recipient of funding awards as distributed by the State of Michigan, as well as the federal government.

An accomplished listee, Ms. Kunze celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Kunze initially earned a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University in 1971, following this achievement with an internship at Central Elementary School in Sparta, MI, in 1986 and a Master of Education from Grand Valley State University in 1990. Now certified in K-12 physical education, elementary teaching, secondary English and grades 7 through 8, she is recognized for the educational strides she has made in the field of corrections and public education. Interested in teaching since childhood, Ms. Kunze started out as an instructor at the Young Women's Christian Association in 1972 and progressed to youth services director in 1977. She went on to teach at Sparta High School, Hastings Middle School, Ionia Temporary Facility, Michigan Reformatory and the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility, most recently teaching inmates with mental disorders at the latter from 2008 to 2010. Highly qualified in her professional area, Ms. Kunze also served as a training specialist at Grand Rapids Public Schools, principal at Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility and Muskegon Temporary Facility, and director and founder of Northview Extended Day Care.

In addition to her occupational accomplishments, Ms. Kunze worked as a consultant at the Northview Child Care Network from 1989 to 1995 and has worked as a developer at the Michigan Department of Corrections for their pre-release program. Utilizing her developed insight into corrections education, she co-wrote "Teaching Diverse Students in a Corrections Setting with Assistance from the Library" in 2003 and is a member of the Michigan Adult Education Professional Development Project Instructional Leadership Team. Due to her professional focus, Ms. Kunze has been the recipient of funding awards as distributed by the State of Michigan, as well as the federal government.

Celebrated for her professional standing, Ms. Kunze has been asked to present at several conferences on a state and international level, notably including the National Literacy Convention as conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Canadian Correctional Organization. She maintains connections with such organizations as the Michigan Reading Association, the Michigan Association of Community and Adult Education, the Michigan Association of Adult Basic Educators and the Correctional Education Association of America, among others. Ms. Kunze also contributes to society on a civic level and has participated as a citizen ambassador consultant for Early Childhood Development in China and Bosnia. Passionate about helping children, she has also been a consultant for the Citizens League/Child Care Task Force, Campfire, Inc., and the State of Michigan's child care programs.
