A highly accomplished physician with nearly 40 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Esposito currently serves as faculty member and vice chairman of cardiothoracic surgery at North Shore University Hospital, where he has worked since 2002, and professor of surgery at the Hofstra School of Medicine, a position he has held since 2016.

Dr. Esposito graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1975 and a Doctor of Medicine, with honors, from the University of Chicago in 1979. He was certified in cardiothoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Esposito began his career in 1979 as a surgery resident at the New York University Langone Medical Center before beginning a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the center in 1984. From 1986 to 2002, Dr. Esposito was a staff surgeon at both New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center, now known as NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. During this time, he also served as chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the New York Veteran Affairs Medical Center from 1988 to 2002 and associate professor of surgery at New York University Langone Medical Center from 1996 to 2002.

Dr. Esposito's career achievements include research on heparin usage, myocardial protection, mitral valve surgery, mitral valve repair and minimally invasive surgery, among others. He has contributed articles to professional journals and chapters to books, and has served on the editorial boards of Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Cardiac Surgery, and Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon.

A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association and American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Esposito is also a member of the American Medical Association, Northeast Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, Medical Society of the State of New York, New York Society for Thoracic Surgery, European Association for Cardio Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, among other professional organizations.

Dr. Esposito was the recipient of the Bronze Tablet from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1975 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 1975 and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1979. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Esposito was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
