Joyce Haber Schuck Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, December 04, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Joyce Haber Schuck with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Schuck celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Since 1987, Ms. Schuck has been an author. She was a consultant and program designer for human service agencies in Colorado Springs, CO, from 1982 to 1985 and a counselor and teacher at Vision Quest in Colorado Springs from 1978 to 1982. During this time, she was also an assistant to the consultant at the Volusia County Department of Corrections in Daytona Beach, FL, a consultant and designer of a student services program at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, and a consultant and designer at Juvenile Probation of El Paso County in Colorado Springs. Moreover, she was a member of Women of our Hemisphere Achieving Together established by Ambassador Holland H. Coors in 1989.

Ms. Schuck also spent time in the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office in Colorado Springs in 1984 and was a program design consultant in 1986. She has been on the board of directors at Workout LTD., Cesar Chavez School Network, and the Youth Transformation Center. In 2009, Governor Ritter appointed her to the Board of Colorado's Charter School Institute where she was elected vice chair until being term limited in 2015. She is also an advisory board member of the Restorative Justice Practices. Additionally, Ms. Schuck has chaired the Colorado Military Academy since 2018, Colorado's first military charter school, and is on the board of the Colorado League of Charter Schools.

She considers the highlight of her career to be work she did designing a volunteer program for the District Attorney's Office of El Paso and Teller County in the Fourth Judicial District. She is also proud of having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in human services and counseling at Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO, in 1982, all while raising young children.

Ms. Schuck started this journey at a young age as a volunteer. When she was 10 years old, Ms. Schuck asked her parents if she could volunteer at an adoption foundling home. She met with the people who were running the home and she would regularly help out on the weekends and spend time with the young children there. Later, she began volunteering at a hospital for children with serious injuries.

As an adult, Ms. Schuck continued her civic work as the co-founder of Community Transitions in Colorado Springs in 1984, a coordinator at El Paso County Shape Up Program, the vice president of the Community Council Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs, and was a board member of the Colorado Women's Foundation in 1987. She co-founded Parents Challenge in 2000, a program that has empowered over 2,000 low income families in Colorado Springs with school choice.
Ms. Schuck is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Colorado Springs and a founding member of the Salon de Femme. She authored "Political Wives, Veiled Lives," which was published in 1991. For all of her accomplishments, she has been recognized with the Lions Heart Award by the Colorado Spring Christian Schools and the Mayor's Civic Leadership Award by the City of Colorado Springs. She has previously been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who of American Women.
