Throughout his career, he has focused his research on the development of efficient cellular manufacturing systems that uses optimal and heuristic solution techniques, including artificial neural networks. More recently, his research has concentrated on the analysis of an unfair newsvendor supply chain with a dominant supplier's "take it or leave it" offer.
A former Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar through Oregon State University, Dr. Youkyung Won holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University, a Master of Business Administration from Seoul National University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he has contributed his expertise to a number of professional journals, such as the International Journal of Production Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, the Journal of Manufacturing Systems, and the Asia Pacific Journal of Operational Research.
In light of his outstanding accomplishments, Dr. Youkyung Won has been recognized with features in Who's Who in Asia and Who's Who in the World. Married to Soonoak Kim since 1993 with one child, he is a native of Injae, Republic of Korea. In the near future, Dr. Won intends to experience the continued success of his career.
