The Clayton County Retired Teachers Association presented Michael Bryant Kingsbury with the Community Service Award in 1998.

Commencing his career in 1955, he has served as an organist and choir master for various Episcopal and Catholic churches in Atlanta and Decatur, Georgia, positions he notably still holds today. In the formative stages of his profession, Mr. Kingsbury acted as a science teacher for multiple schools across Georgia, including Bouldercrest Elementary School, Northcutt Elementary School, G.P. Babb Middle School and Pointe South Middle School.
Concluding his career in education in 1994, Mr. Kingsbury has since dedicated his expertise to music on a full time basis. In 1994, he began his tenure as an organist and director of Catholic music at Fort McPherson with the United States Army, and has also sat on the board of directors of The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta since 2009. Mr. Kingsbury acts as an organist and music associate with St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Equally passionate about his local community, Mr. Kingsbury has allocated his time to multiple associations relative to music and education. A teacher at the Sylvan Learning Center for eight years, he has been a patron of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 1992. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kingsbury sat on the board of directors of the Camelot Homeowners Association and the Clayton County School Archives, having also been a lector at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within his profession, Mr. Kingsbury has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including the Clayton County Retired Teachers Association, where he has notably served as president since 1996. Serving in the same capacity for the Clayton County Retired Educators Association from 1996 to 1998 and again in 2008, he was also the 10th district director of the Georgia Retired Educators Association and president of the Atlanta Music Club, where Mr. Kingsbury currently holds the position of past president. Likewise, he has sat on the membership committee of the American Guild of Organists since 1958.
Mr. Kingsbury is renowned in his community for his charitable efforts, as he takes great pleasure in aiding those around him to live more successful lives. In recognition of his altruistic contributions to the community, he has been honored with several accolades. The Clayton County Retired Teachers Association presented him with the Community Service Award in 1998 and the Clayton County Retired Educators Association gave him a Certificate of Appreciation in 1999 and a Leadership Award in 2010. Among his other remarkable achievements, Mr. Kingsbury further garnered awards in acknowledgment of his contributions to music. The recipient of the Ritter Music Award from Atlanta Public Schools in 1951, Mr. Kingsbury has also received a Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists and a Leadership Program for Musicians (LMP), a Certificate in Church Music.
A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Mr. Kingsbury enjoys walking and bicycling in his spare time. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University and a Master of Arts from Atlanta University. A certified kindergarten through 12th grade science teacher and recipient of a service playing certificate through the American Guild of Organists, he received the Distinguished Emory Medal through Emory University in 2009. Notably, Mr. Kingsbury was a member of the Corpus Cordis Aureum, Latin for "The Golden Corps of the Heart," a special group of Emory alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago and are given a commissioned medallion.
