With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Diane Jacobs has been recognized as professor emerita of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine since 2008.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Jacobs has been recognized as professor emerita of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine since 2008. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a professor with the University of Central Florida from 1994 to 2016, also hold the position of the chair of the department of health professions from 2002 to 2008 and the vice president of research and graduate studies from 1994 to 1998. She excelled with the State University of New York as a professor from 1980 to 1989 and as an associate professor from 1976 to 1980. Earlier in her career, Dr. Jacobs began her career as a research associate with the Salk Institute of Biological Studies from 1974 to 1976 and as an instructor and lecturer with the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School from 1967 to 1971.

Dr. Jacobs initially pursued an education at Radcliffe College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. She concluded her studies at Harvard University, graduating in 1966 with a Doctor of Philosophy. In addition to her primary responsibilities, Dr. Jacobs has served on the board of directors of the Central Florida Innovation Corporation, and as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.

A respected voice in her community, Dr. Jacobs has been active with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society of Microbiology, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Association of Women Scientists. Additionally, Dr. Jacobs was formerly active as councilor with the Oak Ridge Association of Universities, a chair and member of the board of directors of the Council of Graduate Schools, and the president and member of the executive committee of the Conference of Southern Georgia Graduate Schools.

Throughout her career, Dr. Jacobs has been celebrated for her achievements. She has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women. Furthermore, Dr. Jacobs is a fellow of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions.
