After earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Power went on to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University in 1977. Commencing his career as an associate at John D. Hayes & Associates, he worked as a partner at Hayes & Power from 1984 to 1991 and Power, Rogers & Lavin from 1991 to 1993. He is admitted before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Power is currently a partner with Power, Rogers & Smith since 1993.

In addition to his primary professional endeavors, Mr. Power worked as author and lecturer for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education from 1983 to 1989 and served as a Trustee with Loyola University of Chicago on the Board of Directors for Illinois Public Action from 1987 to 1993. He currently serves on the Loyola School of Law-PROLAW Advisory Board and the Latino Studies Council at the University of Notre Dame. He was notably the youngest lawyer in the country to obtain a jury verdict in excess of $1 million at the age of 28. Interested in the legal profession since he was a child, Mr. Power incorporates both skill and empathy into all his occupational work, focusing on the truth even when faced with media criticism.

Demonstrating his unparalleled legal excellence, Mr. Power was named one of the Best Lawyers in America every year since 1987. He has been honored with numerous other awards for his professional excellence, among them, the Illinois State Bar Association's Medal of Merit in 2003 and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. Additionally, he has been named Citizen of the Year by City Club Chicago in 2003 and a Leading Lawyer by Viewpoint from 2010 to 2013. Mr. Power was also recognized as one of the top ten litigators in the United States by the National Law Journal, and he has repeatedly been chosen as a top lawyer by Law Dragon, a group which selects the top 500 lawyers in the country.

Interested in remaining abreast of developments in his industry, Mr. Power is currently President of the Inner Circle of Advocates which is an organization of the top 100 Plaintiff Trial Lawyers in the country. He is also a fellow with the International Academy of Trial Lawyers as well as the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Power also was appointed to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman's Advisory Council, and is past President of the Celtic Legal Society, the American Board of Trial Advocates, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, now known as Public Justice, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Due to his professional expertise, Mr. Power has been honored in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of emerging Leaders in America.
