With over 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Korshet is currently retired, having most recently served from assistant professor to full professor at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona from 1976 to 2004. During this time, she was also the coordinator of graduate studies in the Don B. Huntley College of Agriculture at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona from 1997 to 2004. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was a research fellow at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis from 1975 to 1976 and a teaching assistant at Oregon State University in Corvallis from 1970 to 1974. Earlier in her career, Dr. Korshet was a laboratory technician at US Biotest Inc. in 1969.
Dr. Korshet began her career as a student at The University of Arizona in Tucson, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1969. She continued her studies with Oregon State University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1974. Following these accomplishments, she joined the University of Minnesota, completing postdoctoral coursework from 1974 to 1976. Dr. Korshet has been certified as a professional animal scientist in the areas of genetics and breeding.
A respected voice in her field, Dr. Korshet contributed her skills to a number of other professional endeavors as well. Having been active as a consultant in the field of animal science for a number of years, she spent time as a visiting scholar at the International Center for Students and Trainees in France in 1980. A regular contributor of articles to professional journals, Dr. Korshet has held membership with the American Statistical Association, the Canada Society of Animal Science, the British Society of Animal Science, the American Genetic Association and the Richard III Society.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Korshet has been recognized for her contributions, including having been selected as a Women in Development fellow by the United States Agency for International Development. Inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society for scholarly excellence, she has also been named to the Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Sigma Delta honor societies. In light of all her accomplishments, Dr. Korshet has been featured in various editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
