Anne Scott Stiles, PhD, RN, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Dr. Stiles celebrates 47 years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Currently, Dr. Stiles is working as a professor in the School of Nursing at Sam Houston State University, where she earned more than $2 million in grants. A faculty member at SHSU since 2012, she held the post of director between 2012 and 2016, increasing enrollment at the School of Nursing from 35 to 210. A tenured professor, she previously excelled at Texas Woman's University, where she also served as the coordinator of the doctoral program and the associate dean of the College of Nursing, Denton campus. Additionally, she found success as a faculty member at Kaplan Educational Center, Ltd., a nursing educator at both the University of Arkansas and Georgia Southern University, and a per-diem staff nurse at Bulloch Memorial Hospital in Statesboro, GA.

Focusing much of her research on infant attachment and maternal sensitivity in adolescent mother-infant dyads, personal space boundaries, nursing education and research instrumentation, Dr. Stiles has contributed numerous articles to professional journals as a result, as well as several chapters to books and conference presentations. She has also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Nursing, the Journal of Child and Family Studies and the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecological and Neonatal Nursing, among others. Furthermore, Dr. Stiles has been active as a consultant in her field, most recently for the Houston Methodist Hospital.

Inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the SHSU Honor Society and the International Rotary of Huntsville, Dr. Stiles has served as a member and former cabinet chairman on research for the Georgia Nurses Association, and director of communications for the Southern Nursing Research Society. She has been associated with a number of additional organizations, including the Texas Nurses Association, Southern Nursing Research Society, the Society for Research in Child Development, the Transcultural Nursing Society, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and the National League for Nursing, among others. Moreover, Dr. Stiles has also been affiliated with multiple community organizations such as the Huntsville Optimist Club, Huntsville Rotary, and the Huntsville Leadership Institute.

During her career, Dr. Stiles completed a Chancellor's research fellowship between 2003 and 2004. Likewise, she earned an Enhancement Award from Texas Woman's University from 2003 to 2004. Dr. Stiles has been included in several editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who of American Women.

Prior to embarking on her professional path, Dr. Stiles obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Ohio State University. She continued her studies with a Master of Science in Nursing from Oral Roberts University and Doctor of Philosophy in Texas Woman's University. Dr. Stiles also completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Arizona.
