GLENDORA, CA, March 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ann Bailey Croissant, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Croissant celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Croissant became inspired to delve into the teaching profession due to the influence of her parents, who were both teachers. Having grown up on a farm that made her appreciate nature, she decided to specialize in the sciences. Earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1961, she subsequently received a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1991. Dr. Croissant is a certified elementary, secondary and collegiate teacher in the state of California.

Commencing her career in 1960, Dr. Croissant served as a teacher and speaker at various private and public schools, as well as colleges and universities, for the entirety of her career. During this time, she was a lecturer at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, from 1978 to 1987, having also served in the same capacity at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, from 1984 to 1987. She concluded her career in 1999, having been a professor of education at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, for a total of 15 years. Dr. Croissant currently holds the title of professor emeritus.

Since 1978, Dr. Croissant has been a science curriculum consultant for the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County Schools. The former three-time president of a Glendora Parent Teacher Association, she also acted as a science consultant for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America for seven years, president of the Glendora Education Foundation for one year, and president and founder of the Glendora Community Conservancy for 27 years. During this time, Dr. Croissant also served as president and founder of the San Gabriel Mountains Regional Conservancy from 1997 to 2018.

A prominent author, Dr. Croissant has penned several books within her area of expertise, including "Taxonomy: Key to Organization," "Plants: The Green Machines" and "Ecology/Pollution/Energy." She also authored the first and second editions of "Wildflowers of the San Gabriel Mountains and Watershed," published in 2007 and 2015, respectively. As such, in an effort to remain abreast of developments within her profession, she has been affiliated from time to time with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Gifted Children, and the American Educational Research Association. Dr. Croissant also has been a member of the California Native Plant Society, and the Southern California Botanists.

As a testament to her success, Dr. Croissant has garnered several accolades and honors. She is the recipient of the Friend of Education Award from the Glendora Teachers Association, the Special Achievement Award from the Glendora School Board, and the Honorary Service Award from the Glendora Parent Teacher Association. Later on in her career, she received the Women of Achievement Award from the YWCA, the Outstanding Teaching Award from Alpha Chi, and the Exemplary Teaching Forum Award from the American Association for Higher Education. She was also featured in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the West.

Married with three children, Dr. Croissant enjoys several hobbies, including hiking, reading, volunteering, writing, traveling, and studying curriculum, science, and environmental conservation. She cites the highlight of her career to be staying in the master's program in a field that women were not encouraged to pursue in the 1960s. However, despite the stigma associated with women in the sciences, Dr. Croissant persevered and emerged as a prominent figure in her field.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Croissant has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
