In 1982, Ms. Barone began her career as a computer programmer with the Office of Institutional Research.
Ms. Barone initially pursued an education at the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1982. She concluded her studies with National University, graduating with a Master of Business Administration, summa cum laude, in 1985. Additionally, Ms. Barone is registered as a professional engineer.
A respected voice in her field, Ms. Barone has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the IEEE, the American Computing Machinery Club, the Society of Women Engineers, the Society of Test Engineers, the Gilfillan Management Association, and ITT Ski Club. An author of books in relation to her areas of expertise, Ms. Barone has also served as a consultant with AMJ Accounting Firm, MOD, AT&T Bell Labs and IBM.
