Mr. Potts is the chief executive officer of Blue Creek Appaloosas (BCA) in Walla Walla, WA. Founded in 2008, BCA is a small breeding ranch for Foundation Appaloosas and is one of just a small number of breeders in the United States. Creating purebred Appaloosas, BCA focuses on disposition, conformation and color, all of which receive basic, natural horsemanship training before leaving the premises suitable for western pleasure and trail riding.

In addition to running his ranch, Mr. Potts has been the longtime owner of Palouse Management in Walla Walla since 1979, a commercial and residential real estate management company. He formerly served as the director of Washington Apartments Associates and as president of Walla Walla Rental Properties.

Having written extensively, Mr. Potts has authored and edited several dozen books, was a founding editor of COSMEP in Berkeley, CA, and has served as a longtime columnist with Kyushu Gleaner for "Japan's Political Choices" since 1995. Some of his more recent books include "Coyote Highway" in 2016, "Pilgrim and Martell" in 2015, "The Source" in 2014, "Inside Idaho" in 2009 and "Laffing Water" in 2007.

The founder of the Temple School of Poetry in 2002, Mr. Potts also established the Temple Bookstore that same year. He is a former president of Tsunami, Inc., former northwest representative for Chinese Computer Communications, Inc., former host of a poetry radio program entitled "Oasis" on NPR-KUER in Salt Lake City, and former founder and director of Litmus, Inc.

Mr. Potts and the BCA are members of several organizations, including the Appaloosa Horse Club of Moscow, Idaho and the International Colored Appaloosa Association. He and his organization are also members of the Walla Walla Wagon Wheelers, where Mr. Potts recently served as a board member from 2014 to 2018. Mr. Potts is affiliated as a master practitioner of the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, member of the Chinese Language Computer Society, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association, Fukuoka International Forum, Toastmasters International and the Italian-American Heritage Association. He has served as the Fifth Congressional District representative to the executive committee of the Washington State Democratic Party from 1992-1995.

The recipient of a Distinguished Professional Achievement Award from Idaho State University in the College of Arts and Sciences in 1994, Mr. Potts also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washington Poets Association in 2008. He has been cited in more than 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry. Mr. Potts has notably held a Bachelor of Arts in English from Idaho State University since 1965 and is a former licensed real estate broker in the state of Washington.
