Marvin Rotman, MD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

A physician with more than 60 years of experience and 95 practicing former residents to his credit, Dr. Rotman has been serving as the director of radiation oncology at Kings County Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. and as a consultant at the Brooklyn VA Hospital since 1979. He has also been associated with State University of New York in the health science center as a distinguished service professor and the chair of the department of radiation oncology since 2003 and as a teacher since 1979. Dr. Rotman previously taught radiology and clinical radiology at the New York Medical College between 1967 and 1979.

In 1975, Dr. Rotman co-authored the textbook "Introduction to Radiotherapy," followed by "Genito-Urinary Malignancy" in 1980. He also edited several textbooks, including "Clinical Applications of Continuous Infusion Chemotherapy and Concomitant Radiation Therapy" in 1986. Dr. Rotman has penned more than 190 articles to professional journals and textbooks in his area of expertise, many of which focused on the treatment of lymph nodes in cervical cancer.

An elected fellow and longtime counselor of the New York state chapter of the American College of Radiology and an elected fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Rotman is the past president of the American Radium Society, the New York Cancer Society and the Society of Academy of Radiotherapy Programs. He is also a longtime member of the American Medical Association, the New York Roentgen Society, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Medical Society of Kings County, where he has held the post of the chairman of radiotherapy since 1981. The president of the Kings Point Civic Association since 2003, he has been appointed to the board of directors of Young Concert Artists in New York City for more than 50 years. Dr. Rotman was previously affiliated on the national board of directors for the Santa Fe Opera between 1987 and 1993.

The recipient of a Gold Medal Award from the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in 2002, Dr. Rotman also accepted an Award of Honor from the Radiology Society of North America in 1991. He has been featured in approximately 10 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. Earning a bachelor's degree at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. in 1954, Dr. Rotman additionally obtained a Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University in 1958.
