FREMONT, CA, April 01, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Howard Shellhammer with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Howard Shellhammer celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After accruing four decades of professional excellence, Dr. Shellhammer retired from his role as a professor of biology at San Jose State University. Over the years, he had found success as a senior associate with Bay H.T. Harvey & Associates, an ecology expert for the National Park Service, and the co-director of research and the biological effects of off-road vehicles at San Jose State University. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Shellhammer was enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Chemical Corps for six months on active duty and nearly eight years in the Chemical units of the United States Army Reserve.

An expert in his field, Dr. Shellhammer has earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in zoology from the University of California, Davis. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the American Society of Mammalogists and the California Academy of Sciences. Throughout his career, Dr. Shellhammer has notably contributed to the research of the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and he did research to provide the basic information on its biology and protection. He has also done long-term research on the role of fire in sequoia regeneration and modern knowledge of sequoia ecology.

Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Shellhammer is especially proud of getting the mouse on the endangered species list. With global warming and rising sea levels on the rise, the number of mice globally are decreasing rapidly. For his professional accomplishments, he was selected for inclusion in the 12th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and the 66th edition of Who's Who in America. Looking toward the future, Dr. Shellhammer intends to experience the continued growth of his career and the success of his research.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Howard Shellhammer has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
