FLAT ROCK, NC, April 02, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lee Thayer, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Thayer celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A thought leader in the study of the human condition since the 1950s, Dr. Thayer is known around the world for his work. Drawing upon an extensive educational background, he also found success as a Director and chief executive officer, consultant, and coach for improving the performance of organizations worldwide. He is of the belief that it is important to not just fix an organization but to change their mindset and leadership so that the company can effectively carry out the needed improvements in a lasting way. This way, the change is sustainable and remains honest to the values of the company. Outside of his primary endeavors, he served his country as a U.S. Naval Reserve Officer aboard ship during the Korean Conflict. During this time, he earned a degree in engineering.

Dr. Thayer began his career working at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and then the University of Iowa, where he was the first Gallup Professor. He went on to achieve a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma while working as an associate professor of administration and psychology at the (then) University of Wichita. From there, he went on to teach at Simon Fraser University in Canada and the University of Helsinki in Finland. He considers one of the highlights of his career to be his ability to travel to different countries to serve as a visiting distinguished professor with such esteemed academic institutions as the Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education and the Queensland University of Technology, both in Australia, as well as the University of Amsterdam, the Sorbonne, and in China.

Having completed extensive research, Dr. Thayer has authored more than 25 books, such as "Meaning," "Living Our Explanations," "Perspectives," "Mental Hygiene," and "Leadership Virtuosity." Additionally, he was the founding editor of the journal Communication and the editor of the book series "The Human Context." He is pleased with the influence his written works have been met with.

Born on December 18, 1927 in Grenola, KS, to Ruth Ray and Garrett Osborne Thayer, Dr. Thayer spent the ages of 3 to 6 living with his maternal grandparents in Southeastern Kansas. During this time, he would help them on their small self-sufficient farm. He learned to read two years before he began 1st grade. As he grew up, he appeared in musical performances and developed a talent for composing and arranging music. In high school, he was offered a scholarship to the Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

In light of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Thayer received fellowships from the Ford Foundation, the Foundation for Economic Education, the Fulbright Program, and many other foundations and prestigious teaching awards. He has also earned many features in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the Media and Communication. He often advises young educators to stop looking in the mirror and start looking at the people they are talking to. Upon reflection, he recognizes that he learned as much from his students as they learned from him. He considers the students to be the most rewarding aspect of his profession.

Married to Suzanne Katherine Schwan since 1986, Dr. Thayer is the father or stepfather of 4 children: Joshua, Jessica, Joelle, and Justin. He has four grandchildren. Formerly a frequent hiker with his wife, he now enjoys spending time reading and learning. Remaining an active participant in conferences and courses, he plans to continue writing, reading, and teaching or coaching in the future. He has three books out in 2019 and will have an additional book published in 2020.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Lee Thayer, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
