Supported by more than five decades of practiced experience in dentistry and education, Dr. Warren has served in a general dentistry practice in Boone since 1972. Alongside this endeavor, he has been an adjunct professor of operative dentistry at the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina since 2014. Commencing his career in 1965 as an instructor in biology and chemistry at West Wilkes High School in North Wilkesboro, a role he held for three years, he subsequently served as an adjunct assistant professor of operative dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry from 1972 to 1979. He later served as an adjunct assistant professor of fixed prosthodontics from 1982 to 1984 and of operative dentistry from 1987 to 1997.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Warren pursued formal education at Appalachian State University in Boone, where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1965. He later completed postgraduate coursework at Duke University in Durham in 1967 before transferring to the University of North Carolina, where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1972.
A former member of the Watauga County Board of Education for 16 years, Dr. Warren maintains affiliation with several organizations in an effort to remain abreast of changes in the field. He formerly sat on the board of directors of the Academy of General Dentistry, and he holds membership with the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the University of North Carolina Alumni Association, where he is a lifetime member, and the Tar Heel Dental Study Club, where he serves as president. Dr. Warren is also a member of Delta Sigma Delta and the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Warren received a mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1997. In addition, the North Carolina Dental Society honored him with a Distinguished Service Award and he was a National Science Foundation fellow of Duke University and the International College of Dentists. Impressively, Dr. Warren was also featured in the 20th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the World and the 58th through 61st editions of Who's Who in America.
