Raymond C. Benn is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Connecticut and a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Benn is a materials engineer who has worked in the field for more than four decades. He retired as a Staff Engineer from Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut, in 2013 after 7 years with the organization. He transferred in 2005 to Pratt & Whitney from United Technologies Research Center in East Hartford where he was a Principal Scientist from 2000. Prior to that he worked for the Wyman-Gordon Co. in Groton, Connecticut, as the corporate Chief Technologist and Allied Signal Engines in Stratford, Connecticut, as a Staff Engineer in the Advanced Materials group. Mr. Benn also held various roles with Inco Alloys International Inc. for 13 years as Group Leader Mechanical Alloying, Section Manager respectively of High Temperature Materials and Powder Technology in the US; while in the UK, he was a Research Metallurgist supervising the Laboratory Foundry from 1974. He began his professional career at Delta Materials Research, beginning in 1970.

A technical expert in the fields of metallurgical science and engineering, Mr. Benn notably holds 27 United States patents. He has conducted research in developing alloys, including mechanical alloying techniques and materials technology for high temperature and high performance applications in aerospace and industry including Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. Contributing over 50 articles to professional journals over the course of his career, Mr. Benn has also co-authored two books.

An elected Fellow member of ASM International, he has chaired numerous chapters of the organization, including the West Virginia chapter and the Hudson Valley chapter. He also chaired the Specialty Materials Division and the Heat Resistant Materials group for several years. In addition, he is an elected Fellow member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He also held memberships with the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, and Sigma Xi.

The co-recipient of an Innovative P/M Award through the European Powder Metallurgy Association in 1992, Mr. Benn jointly received an IR-100 Award in 1980. He is notably a two-time recipient of the Chapter Chairman Award from ASM International, first in 1984 and again in 1987. In light of all his accomplishments, Mr. Benn has been included in more than a dozen editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.

Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Benn completed coursework in chemical engineering at the University of London in England between 1965 and 1966 before obtaining a Bachelor of Science (1st Class Honors) in metallurgy from the University of Surry in England in 1970. Following this accomplishment, he completed an Executive Master of Business Administration at the University of New Haven in Connecticut in 1995. In 2011, he was awarded an honorary bachelor's degree from the University of Surry. Mr. Benn is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Connecticut and a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom.
