Dr. Shannon S. Doughty has been the owner and clinical director of Carolina Coast Behavioral Services in Charleston, SC, since 2005.

CHARLESTON, SC, April 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Shannon S. Doughty, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Doughty celebrates 21 years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Doughty has been the owner and clinical director of Carolina Coast Behavioral Services in Charleston, SC, since 2005. She is also an experienced behavior analyst who works mainly with patients up to the age of 21 with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. Applied behavior analysis, Dr. Doughty noted, is a very broad field but is best known for being the most effective in children with autism. Through her business, her team works with parents, siblings and teachers to provide training in either the clients' homes or schools. Working with children struggling with behavior problems and skill deficits, each patient is monitored closely in order to provide individualized treatment. Changes in behavior are often seen in as little as a few weeks with the ultimate goal of reaching long-term success.

Although Dr. Doughty does not get to work with as many kids as she would like because she wears so many hats as the owner of the business, she does get to hire some wonderful therapists. Training them in a field that not many people know enough about, she enjoys the opportunity to teach and mentor. Dr. Doughty is very proud of the success she has seen over the past near 15 years, giving her career and her business a purpose. It gives her great joy to be able to help so many individuals.

Prior to establishing her business, Dr. Doughty was an inpatient services coordinator for the Dual Diagnosis Treatment and Training Services in Parsons, KS. She was also an inpatient psychologist for Parsons State Hospital in Kansas. Prior to completing her Master's and doctorate programs, Dr. Doughty was a teaching assistant at West Virginia University and a member of the therapeutic support staff at Holcomb Behavioral Health in Reading, PA.

Dr. Doughty is a longstanding member of the Association for Behavior Analysis International and the South Carolina Association for Behavior Analysis. She has also contributed multiple articles in her field in various scholarly journals. She has been included in the ninth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, the 25th and 26th editions of Who's Who of American Women, and the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders of America for her contributions to the field.

First earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in modern foreign language and psychology from Albright College in 1998, Dr. Doughty soon after completed a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in psychology at West Virginia University in 2002 and 2004, respectively with specialization in behavior analysis. She then interned at West Virginia University Hospitals between 2001 and 2003. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Discovering her field accidentally, Dr. Doughty had answered an advertisement to work with a child with autism spectrum disorder while she was a student in her undergraduate program. Within just three months, she knew that she wanted to return to college to earn a doctorate so that she could be more involved with this area of work for the rest of her career. That family changed her life and opened her eyes to an area of psychology that she never knew existed. That little girl is still in Dr. Doughty's life today; she is now 26 years old.

Married to her husband Dr. Adam Howard Doughty since 2004, Dr. Doughty has three children, Elias, born in 2006, Noah, born in 2007 and Quinn, born in 2009. For more information about Carolina Coast Behavioral Services, please visit www.ccbs-sc.com.
