With more than 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Buescher was an advisory and senior project engineer with the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls from 1979 to 2000. Prior to obtaining this role, he was principal engineer at the Babcock & Wilcox Co. in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 1973 to 1979 and a postdoctoral associate metallurgist with the Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, from 1971 to 1973. Earlier in his career, Dr. Buescher was a research physicist with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, from 1969 to 1971.

Dr. Buescher began his career as a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1962. He continued his studies with the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in physics in 1969. In addition to his primary roles, Dr. Buescher was a representative of the United States Regulatory Commission to the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 1983 to 1986.

A respected voice in his community, Dr. Buescher has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society, the American Physical Society, the Association for Excellence in Reactor Operations and Sigma Phi Sigma. A contributor of articles to professional journals as well, he has written extensively in his areas of expertise.

Throughout his career, Dr. Buescher has been recognized for his achievements. He has received awards and accolades for his contributions and accomplishments. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
