With more than 30 years of practiced experience in medicine and academia, Dr. Lewis has found success as the director of nuclear medicine at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since 1990, as well as professor of radiology with the University of Washington in Seattle since 2012. At the inception of his career, he joined the University of Washington as a resident of internal medicine between 1985 and 1988. He further progressed to a resident of nuclear medicine with the university from 1988 to 1990 before becoming an assistant professor of radiology.
Prior to embarking on his professional endeavors, Dr. Lewis pursued formal education with the University of Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. A short time later, he graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine in 1985. Furthermore, Dr. Lewis is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
A published author, Dr. Lewis' written works include "Nuclear Medicine in Oraland Maxillofacial Surgery" in 1990 and "Differential SPECT Activation Patterns Associated with PASAT Performance May Indicate Frontocerebellar Functional Association in Chronic Mild Traumatic Brain Injury" in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine in 2009. In a career filled with many highlights, he is particularly proud to have become the president of the Western Regional Society of Nuclear Medicine. Civically, he has volunteered with the Review Committee for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Named among the Outstanding Young Men of America by the United States Junior Chamber in Richmond, Virginia, in 1984, he has been honored as Seattle's Top Doctor in 2019. A member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, he has maintained affiliation with the Washington State Medical Association and the National Stroke Association, among others. Outside of work, he enjoys soccer, playing the guitar, running, learning Spanish, and writing poetry.
