PALATINE, IL, June 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present James Simon Hoffman with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Hoffman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Supported by more than 35 years of practiced excellence in engineering, Mr. Hoffman most recently served as a senior instructor at IBM from 1974 until his retirement in 1991. Prior to this role, he served IBM as a marketing representative in Chicago from 1972 to 1974 and a systems engineer in Austin, Texas, from 1967 to 1972. Earlier in his career, he was employed by the Iowa Highway Commission in Ames, where he was the director of data processing from 1960 to 1967, a programmer from 1958 to 1960, and an engineer from 1955 to 1958. Equally passionate about his local community, Mr. Hoffman has been volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America since 1964.

He is also a member of Tau Beta Phi and Phi Kappa Phi, as well as the Knights of Columbus, where he was a grand knight from 1966 to 1967. Among the notable highlights of his career, he is most proud of designing bridges in the state of Iowa as a young engineer. During a particularly difficult construction, Mr. Hoffman suggested building a T-shaped pier and the state of Iowa subsequently adopted his suggestion and has now implemented it across the state.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Hoffman was highlighted in myriad Who's Who publications, including the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Education, the 11th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and the 63rd through 68th editions of Who's Who in America.
