BETHESDA, MD, July 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Chorng-Huey Wong, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Wong celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Recruited by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to serve as an economist in 1970, Dr. Wong was the first ever Taiwanese person to be selected for a position with the organization directly out of college. An international organization founded in 1944 and headquartered in Washington, DC, it consists of 189 countries working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world. Remaining with the IMF his entire career, Dr. Wong retired in 2005, concluding his 35-year career as a deputy director of the IMF Institute (now known as the IMF Institute for Capacity Development), the training department of the IMF.

Fortunate to have enjoyed such a great deal of progression in such a short amount of time, during Dr. Wong's tenure at IMF, he served in various capacities, including senior budget manager, senior personnel manager and, on occasion, acting director. As senior staff member in the IMF Institute, he dealt with budgetary and personnel issues, as well as the strategic aspects of the IMF Institute curriculum. While working in the Asian Department and the Central Asia Department, Dr. Wong served as the chief of the IMF missions and gave policy advices to, and negotiated economic adjustment programs for, several member countries. Dr. Wong has conducted training courses and high-level seminars for numerous government officials and central bankers across the globe. After retiring from the IMF, he has continued to act as a consultant and visiting scholar and has participated in the IMF Institute's training activities between 2005 and 2017.

Dr Wong has authored a number of articles in scholarly journals, including the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Finance, the Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv, and the IMF Staff Papers (now known as IMF Economic Review.) One of his more recent articles, "Adjustment and the Internal-External Balance," was cited in a book published through the IMF and has since been used as training material in the Institute's regular training programs. Dr. Wong has served as an editor for four books published through the IMF as well: "Macroeconomic Management: Programs and Policies," "Trade Policy Issues," "Coordinating Stabilization and Structural Reform," and "Approaches to Exchange Rate Policy." Most of his research and publications have focused on the topics of monetary and exchange rate policies, financial programming and the prevention and management of financial crisis.

Born in Taiwan, Dr. Wong graduated from Tainan First High School in 1958. He was later honored with an Outstanding Alumni Award by the school in 2011. He then received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from National Taiwan University in Taipei City, Taiwan, in 1962. Continuing with graduate studies in economics on campus for one year, he was then offered a full scholarship to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he received a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1970. Dr. Wong is an active member of the American Economic Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, he is featured in the 23rd edition of the Who's Who in the East.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Wong has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
