Roger Louis with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Louis celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 50 years of experience in history education, Dr. Louis has become an authority in his profession and has been recognized as a distinguished teaching professor. He holds the Kerr Chair in English History and Culture at the University of Texas at Austin. Serving as a professor since 1970, he also served as the director of British Studies since 1975. Earlier in his career, he excelled as an assistant and associate professor of history at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, from 1962 to 1970. Dr. Louis also contributed his skills as a Cust lecturer at the University of Nottingham in 1995 as well as an Elie Kedourie memorial lecturer at the British Academy and a Kalb lecturer at Rice University in 1996.

Prior to becoming an esteemed educator, Dr. Louis obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma in 1959 and a Master of Arts from Harvard University in Massachusetts in 1960. Joining the University of Oxford in England, he went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in 1962 and a Doctor of Letters in 1979. During his time at the University of Oxford, he was mentored by A.J.P. Taylor, who was his academic supervisor. In 1998, Dr. Louis was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters from Westminster College.

Dr. Louis has authored and edited a number of published works. After Authoring "Imperialism at Bay: The United States and the Decolonization of the British Empire, 1941-1945," in 1977, he was the editor of "Adventures with Britannia: Personalities, Politics and Culture in Britain" in 1997. Since then, he has continued his "Adventures with Britannia" series, publishing "Resplendent Adventures with Britannia" in 2015 and "Effervescent Adventures with Britannia" in 2017. "Serendipitous Adventures with Britannia," is slated for publication in 2019.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Louis remains informed of the advancements and changes in his field through relevant organizations. He has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Texas Institute of Letters and the Metropolitan Club. Likewise, he served as the president of the American Historical Association in 2001 and a trustee of the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum from 2005 to 2013. Dr. Louis has also been elected as a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

In light of his many achievements in the field, Dr. Louis has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career. He has been recognized as a fellow by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Institute of Indian Studies and All Souls College. Furthermore, he was named Professor of the Year by the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 and has been honored as a guest scholar by the Brookings Institution, along with countless other recognitions. Dr. Louis has previously been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
