With more than thirty years of experience to his credit, Mr. lIes has become an authority in his industry and currently serves as a private practice lecturer on political history specialisms and global perspectives in Kirksville, Missouri and occasionally back in England itself. Previously, he excelled as a honorary visiting fellow in Modern World Twentieth Century World History at the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Birmingham in 1987 where he also published A Handlist of the Papers of Charles and Lucy Masterman for the Heslop Series of Archives of the library, an adjunct History instructor at Johnson County Community College, Kansas, from 1991-1992 and a Visiting European History and Politics Teacher at the Roedean School, Brighton, from 1992 to 1993. More recently, he has served as an honorary Visiting Researcher at the Cité Universitaire, Paris in 2005 and priorly was again a History and Politics Teacher at St. Mary's Hall Roedean Division, in Brighton in 2002. In 2018 and 2019, he was Visiting Guest Introductory Lecturer on the Churchill and Queen Anne British History Films at Colombia, Missouri, Ragtime Cinema Festivals.

Alongside becoming an esteemed educator, Iles pursued higher education with a UK/US Bachelor of Arts Politics and History Honors degree from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University in 1975. He earned a Master of Arts degree in United States Area Studies, majoring in History Thesis Honors on American/Canadian Native American History in 1978 University College, University of London, and by teaching stipends merit three year renewed, he gained an additional Master of Arts in European History from the University of Illinois, Urbana, in 1982. He also earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of London in 1977. He was mentored by a number of his teachers who have been Members of Parliament from all three main British political parties and these have influenced some of his own prominent roles in British broadcasting on a volunteer leader basis, such as anti-war lead presenter Channel 4" Right to Reply" Against Gulf War I program 19th of January 1991 and lead left-wing candidate finalist of three, out of an original forty, for UK "South of Westminster" Worthing West Labour MP candidate selection BBC South UK on the 29th of January 1996.

As an author, Mr. lIes own book, The Progressive Left-Centre Animal Lover Legacy, a biographical saga of radicals George Greenwood and Vera Terrington, was published in 2010 and reprinted in 2011 by Xlibris of Indiana and previous work includes the three sections led by "Biography Since 1960" in the Routledge Encyclopedia of Contemporary British Culture in 1999.

Beyond his professional career, he has been a history educator in practice in numerous volunteer roles, such as organizer in Missouri for the Socialist Party, USA, in the late 1990s after a stint as Deputy Chair of Brunswick and Goldsmid Branch of the Hove Labour Party UK 1994 to 1996. Today, he serves as the United States/Canada Representative Member of Britain's Labour Party Heritage, Peace Action, Animal Welfare and Land Taxation Advocacy Groups and he has been publishing in such UK but worldwide-circulated magazines as History Revealed March 2015 in lead prize letter on Martin Luther King's lawyer, whom he has met and in Military History Matters on the Jacobite rebellion June-July 2019.
