Dr. Gian Carlo Salmoiraghi is a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.

Having accrued over 40 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Salmoiraghi most recently served as the chairman of the department of physiology and the assistant vice president of science affairs at Hahnemann University, now known as Drexel University College of Medicine, from 1986 to 1994. Within that time, he held the additional positions of the vice provost for research affairs and a professor of neurology and physiology for the aforementioned university. Likewise, he found success as an associate director for research at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 1977 to 1984.
In the four years prior, Dr. Salmoiraghi excelled as an associate of commissioner research for the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene. His career began with the International Refugee Organization in 1949 as a senior medical officer. Moreover, he has been employed as a research fellow at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, a lecturer at McGill University, a director of the division for special mental health research at the National Institute of Mental Health, and a clinical professor of psychiatry at the George Washington University.
Prior to his professional career, Dr. Salmoiraghi pursued an education at the University of Rome and accelerated through his medical school program, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1948. He completed additional coursework at McGill University, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1959. Hahnemann University subsequently presented him with an honorary Doctor of Science in 1995.
In addition to being an active contributor of articles to professional journals, Dr. Salmoiraghi was the recipient of a Superior Service Award from the Department of Health in 1970. He is a valuable member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the International Brain Research Organization, and the Royal Society of Medicine, among other organizations. Furthermore, Dr. Salmoiraghi is a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
