Michael Weinstein Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Public Pension and Municipal Law

    NAPERVILLE, IL, October 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Weinstein has been included in Marquis Who's Who. An acclaimed attorney with over 45 years of experience, Mr. Weinstein has found success of counsel with Ottosen Britz Kelly Cooper Gilbert & DiNolfo, Ltd., where he began in 2015. Though he primarily represents clients in the areas of public pension and municipal law, he also specializes in administrative law, the Illinois Freedom of Information and Open Meetings Acts, labor and employment law, and board governance matters. Prior to obtaining his current position, Mr. Weinstein worked as the general counsel for the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois between 2011 and 2015, and as associate general counsel for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund from 2001 through 2011.

Previously in his professional journey, Mr. Weinstein served as an assistant vice president and claims counsel for the Chicago Title Insurance Company, with which he worked between 1998 and 2001, and an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Attorney General of Illinois. While employed as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General, he briefed and argued cases in the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, as well as two cases in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Weinstein also served as corporate counsel and city attorney for the City of Aurora, Illinois from 1984 until 1997. To facilitate networking with colleagues and remain aware of industry changes, Mr. Weinstein aligns himself professionally with the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association, as well as the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys.

Mr. Weinstein earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in political science, from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1970. He subsequently attended the University of Illinois College of Law, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1973, after which he was admitted to practice law by the Illinois Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Adjacent to his career, Mr. Weinstein enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Patricia, who is also an attorney.
