Dr. Fu has worked in higher education for more than 40 years. Bearing the title of a lecturer, a professor, and the dean of student affairs, he taught at several institutions, including National Cheng Kung University and Kaohsiung Polytechnic Institute (now ISU). Today, Dr. Fu is an honorary president and a distinguished chair professor in the department of electronic engineering at I-Shou University in Kaohsiung. The first president to serve since its establishment as Kaohsiung Polytechnic Institute in 1990, under Dr. Fu's guidance the aforementioned university's enrollment has risen from a mere 276 students to over 16,000 by 2018.
Besides I-Shou University, Dr. Fu is still closely involved in education. He has found success as a board director for Foo Yin University since 2013, and an executive board director for Nan Tien Institute in Australia since 2014. Moreover, Dr. Fu has excelled as the chairman of the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association since 2015.
While teaching, Dr. Fu maintained involvement as a director at the engineering and technology promotion center of the National Science Council in Tainan. He also affiliated for many years as a technical consultant for numerous companies, including the Taiwan Cement Company, Aucera Scientific Inc., MicroLinks Technology Corporation and the Ministry of Economic Affairs' department of industrial technology. Additionally, Dr. Fu held the position of the president and the chairman of numerous committees such as the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) Taiwan Chapter and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Electronic Package Society Taipei Chapter, and has written extensively, contributing over 300 scholarly articles and international conference papers.
Dr. Fu received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Provincial Cheng-Kung University in 1969. He next attended National Cheng-Kung University, obtaining a Master of Science in 1972 and a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering in 1977. A member of several pertinent organizations, Dr. Fu is an elected fellow, a life member and a past president of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society. He is likewise a fellow of the Materials Research Society-Taiwan, Society for Management of Technology and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, as well as a member and a past president of the Taiwan chapter of Surface Mount Technology Association.
In light of his accomplishments in the field, Dr. Fu has been the recipient of numerous accolades. In addition to receiving an Outstanding Research Award from the National Science Council, he was presented with an Outstanding Contribution Award from International Conference on Electronics Packaging, an Outstanding Leadership Award from SMTA, an Education and Culture Award from the Ministry of Education, and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National Cheng Kung University. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Fu has been featured in the 26th edition of Who's Who in the World.
