William Scott Whitaker Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    HOUSTON, TX, January 10, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present William Scott Whitaker with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Whitaker celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A senior technical consultant at Emerson in Houston, Mr. Whitaker is a celebrated professional who has devoted more than 50 years to his field. During his impressive career, he has notably held roles with various organizations throughout the state, most recently as an operations manager for Systech in Houston, an engineering associate for Contech Engineers in La Porte and in several positions for Tex-A-Mation, including as the president. Additionally, Mr. Whitaker has served as a professional safety instrumented systems consultant for Emerson.

Passionate about his community, Mr. Whitaker served as the precinct chairman of the Republican Party in Harris County, Texas, between 1980 and 1986. He also taught as a Sunday school teacher for his church. During his career as an engineer, Mr. Whitaker also notably contributed several professional articles to various scientific publications in his area of expertise and was accepted into MENSA.

An alumnus of Rice University, Mr. Whitaker received a Bachelor of Arts in science and engineering in 1966 and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1967. He later earned a Master of Science in industrial engineering management at the University of Houston in 1975. Mr. Whitaker became a registered professional engineer in Texas, California and Louisiana.

To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Whitaker has been a member and former board director of the Instrument Society of America. The society is recognized for setting the standard for those who apply engineering and technology to improve the management, safety and cybersecurity of modern automation and control systems used across industry and critical infrastructure. Mr. Whitaker has also been a member and former board of directors of Rice Engineering Alumni, the oldest alumni affinity group at Rice University dedicated to providing support to the George R. Brown School of Engineering.
