LA VERNE, CA, January 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Henry Woodrow "Woody" Jackson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Jackson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Jackson celebrates more than 35 years in his field as a renowned physicist and educator. Retiring from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena in 1999 as a research scientist after 12 years, he formerly provided five years as a National Research Council senior resident research associate and as a private consultant. Likewise, Dr. Jackson has contributed as a faculty member at North Texas State University and as a visiting faculty member at Washington University and at Saint Louis University, as well as a staff scientist in the Science Research Laboratory at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. He continues to serve as a consultant in the vicinity of LaVerne.

A seasoned researcher, some of Dr. Jackson's achievements have included patents in subkelvin refrigerators for space flight, acoustic levitators and positioners and microwave techniques for the processing of materials. He has made contributions to quantum theory of helium liquids, to the design of cryogenics on the infrared astronomy satellite and to the construction of a bridge between phenomenological two-fluid models of superfluid helium and microscopic theory. Among other contributions and discoveries in his field, he was also responsible for constructing self-consistent electromagnetic and thermal models for microwave processing of materials. As a result of his research, Dr. Jackson has authored dozens of articles, many of which have been based on the further development of the microscopic-based theory on the super fluid helium. Some of his articles have notably been published in such scholarly journals as the Annals of Physics, The Physical Review, the Journal of Low Temperature Physics, The Journal Physica, the Journal of Applied Physics, the Journal of Physical Chemistry, the Japanese Journal Applied Physics and Physics Letters.

Dr. Jackson served his country in the U.S. Army between 1952 and 1954 before pursuing college. In 1958, he obtained a Bachelor of Art of mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in physics at the University of Texas. Thereafter, Dr. Jackson acquired a Doctor of Philosophy in physics at Washington University in 1962, whereupon he undertook postdoctoral studies as a research associate until 1964.

Eager to remain well-versed in his field of academia, Dr. Jackson has maintained his membership with various organizations of note. To wit, he has been a member of the American Physical Society, the American Ceramic Society and the Materials Research Society. Dr. Jackson is likewise affiliated as a member of Sigma Xi and Phi Beta Kappa.
