Christina Fawcett Jeffrey Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Jeffrey has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of education and politics

SPARTANBURG, SC, April 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Christina Fawcett Jeffrey with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Jeffrey celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A celebrated teacher for numerous years, Dr. Jeffrey was a National Defense Act Fellow, a graduate teaching assistant, and co-chair of the Emphasis Committee, while studying for her M.A. and Ph.D. at The University of Alabama. Working on her Doctoral Dissertation, she served in several administrative positions at the university including Assistant Director of Aquatics; Director of International Student Affairs, Coordinator of the Parent's Program; and finally, Director of Student Affairs at the new Capstone College of Nursing. Her job there included assisting Dean Laurene E. Gilmore to successfully achieve accreditation before the first class graduated. Leaving the University, she was hired by the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce as Manager of International Trade and Executive Secretary of the Alabama World Trade Association.

From 1984 - 1985, she taught for Troy State - Europe's MPA (Master of Public Administration) program on Air Force bases in Turkey and Germany. She took her four children with her on that adventure. Returning to the states, she taught at Troy's home campus for two years before being hired as an Associate Professor of Political Science & Public Administration at Kennesaw State. By the time she was tenured in her third year, she had served as Interim Director of the A.L. Burris Institute, Advisor to the Political Science Honorary, had founded the Political Science Internship program, and began the drive to create an MPA program. She also created the Pi Sigma Alpha Speakers Program.

Dr. Jeffrey served twice as President of the Georgia Society for Public Administration and in 1999 was named to the American Society for Public Administration Hall of Champions. In 1995, she was hired by the new Republican Congress to be U.S. Historian. In 1999, she ran to replace a retiring Congressman Gingrich in Georgia's 6th district, coming in second to Johnny Isakson in a field of eight.

In 2000, she was hired by Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C., to create their criminal justice curriculum and chair their new department of social sciences. From 2004 - 2007, she was affiliated with Coastal Carolina University teaching American Government and Constitutional Law and then as a consultant to then Provost David DeCenzo (now President) to create a nonprofit management track for the University. In 2006, she joined the Palladian Group as VP for Development and helped the President of that firm, Karen Floyd, in her campaign for State School Superintendent and then as a fundraiser for Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.

In 2008, she left the Palladian Group to run for the State House, building on her 7 years as Secretary of the Spartanburg County Republican Party and delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention. She lost the State House race by 43 votes. Encouraged by this close miss, she ran for Congress again in 2010, this time losing to Trey Gowdy.

Except for adjunct and visiting professorships, she has retired from active teaching and from running for office, choosing to spend most of her time volunteering for organizations and causes which she has long supported, including raising money for the Library at Emerald Mountain Christian School in Wetumpka, Alabama; the Children's Security Blanket (serving on its project board to assist critically ill children and their families in Spartanburg County); Spartanburg Toastmasters; The Battle of Cowpens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (currently incoming Regent); volunteering with the Executive SERTOMA Club (Past President); President of the South Carolina Association of Scholars (for 20 years); and longtime Executive Committee Member of the Spartanburg County Republican Party. Her latest endeavor, The U.S. Allegiance Institute, will educate the public about the meaning and importance of key clauses in the Constitution, especially those that have been neglected like Article II, Section 1, Clause 5.

Dr. Jeffrey's literary efforts began in high school when she won the Classical League's poetry contest and saw her poem, "Medea's Litany" published in the League's magazine. This launched her lifelong interest in writing, although at that time, swimming was her greatest passion and she held several records including one which still stands. She was awarded a full scholarship to Vassar College where she studied English and drama, before earning her B.A. at Plano University in 1969. She was also named a Richard M. Weaver Fellow by the Intercollegiate Society of Individualists (now the Intercollegiate Studies Institute). She has published numerous articles and has also completed a book manuscript, How to Save the Safety Net.
