In 1978, Dr. Labat earned a Bachelor of Science in biology (BS) degree in Biology from San Diego State University. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Healthcare Administration from National University in 1980. Dr. Labat attended the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, 1986-1989, where she received her Minority Business Executive certification. Furthermore, Dr. Labat received her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Entrepreneurship from Walden University in 2018.
Dr. Labat continually expands her professional alignment by staying abreast of new laws, policies and constant changes in the fields of insurance, financial services, tax strategy, business development, and entrepreneurship. She is the Founder and CEO of Ascend Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that empowers disadvantaged women to realize their dream of entrepreneurship.
Dedicated to her community, Dr. Labat serves on the Board of Directors of the Zion Hill Community Development Corporation, providing housing for homeless senior women and young adults. Dr. Wendy is an active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she serves on the Community Action & Business Ministry to assist Voter Registration. Healthcare Enrollment & Financial Literacy. During her career, she has served as Board Member for various business & civic organizations.
