Ramin AmirNovin, MD, FAANS, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. AmirNovin has thrived as a neurosurgeon and medical educator over the course of two decades



    POMONA, CA, April 30, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ramin AmirNovin, MD, FAANS, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With 20 years of experience in the treatment of injuries, conditions and diseases affecting the spine and cranium to his credit, Dr. AmirNovin has excelled at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center as a trauma neurosurgery liaison since 2016 and the chair of the surgery department since 2019. During this time, he further flourished at the aforementioned medical center as the vice chair of the surgery department from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, he has been active as an adjunct assistant professor with the Touro College and University System since 2014 and a partner at the Inland Neurosurgery Institute since 2010. Moreover, Dr. AmirNovin provided his wealth of knowledge to the Western University of Health Sciences as a clinical instructor of neurosurgery and a clinical instructor in rotations for the physician assistant program between 2008 and 2013.

Prior to these appointments, Dr. AmirNovin worked as a neurosurgical associate for the LDR Neurosurgery Group in Pomona, California, from 2007 to 2010. Furthermore, he was recruited as the medical director for the neuroscience program at San Dimas Community Hospital in 2008. Previously, he served at the Massachusetts General Hospital as a clinical instructor in neurosurgery from 2006 to 2007, the director of the north neurosurgery service from 2006 to 2007, a neurosurgery resident from 2001 to 2006 and a functional-sterotactical neurosurgery fellow in conjunction with Harvard Medical School from 2003 to 2005. Dr. AmirNovin began his career as a general surgery intern at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2000 to 2001 and a pediatric neurosurgery rotating intern at Boston Children's Hospital in 2002.

Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. AmirNovin pursued an education at Revelle College in the University of California San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with honors and the highest distinction, in 1996. He concluded his studies at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in 2000, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine in pathology, with honors. Following these accomplishments, Dr. AmirNovin has obtained his certifications to practice medicine from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the Medical Board of California.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. AmirNovin has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. From 2008 to 2010, he contributed to the information systems advisory committee for the San Antonio Community Hospital. Formerly, Dr. AmirNovin held the position of researcher on a number of neurophysiological and genetic subjects for the Massachusetts General Hospital, New York University and the University of California San Diego between 1994 and 2005.

Dr. AmirNovin found success with his written works as well, having authored myriad articles for such peer-reviewed publications as the Journal of Southern California Clinicians and Physicians Today, among others. Notably, he penned a chapter pertaining to neurosurgical pain management for "The Massachusetts General Hospital: Handbook of Pain Management" in 2006. Dr. AmirNovin has prolifically dedicated his time and resources to numerous poster and oral presentations between 1996 and 2017.

In addition to his primary vocation, Dr. AmirNovin remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained his involvement with the California Association of Neurological Surgeons since 2008 and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons since 2000. He is also associated with the North American Spine Society, the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and the Congress of Neurosurgeons. Likewise, Dr. AmirNovin was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. AmirNovin has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. Honored as a Rising Star in Neurological Surgery by SuperDoctos.com in 2013 and 2014, he was further recognized as a Guardian Angel by the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in 2011 and with an Honorable Mention for Innovative Research by the Angiogenesis Foundation in 1998. He was additionally presented with the Harold C. Urey Award in 1996, the Outstanding Academic and Leadership Service Award in 1996, the California Assembly Scholastic Achievement Award in 1996, the Research Scholar Award between 1994 and 1996, the Lucien J. Rubinstein Award in 1999 and multiple awards from Vitals.com between 2010 and 2014. Selected for Second Placement in the Student Research Competition at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in 1999, Dr. AmirNovin subsequently received grants from the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation from 2003 to 2005.

Initially, Dr. AmirNovin was drawn to the field of neurosurgery after witnessing a surgeon save a patient's life while he was volunteering at a hospital in San Diego. Renowned for his courageous and serious approach to aggressive, invasive surgeries, he attributes his success to his hard work, his outstanding focus and his exemplary dedication to helping those in need. Though he has accomplished much, he cites his first surgery on a 19-year-old MIT student in need of an emergency brain operation as the highlight of his career, especially as the patient later recovered and personally visited him several years later. Looking toward the future, Dr. AmirNovin hopes to expand his current medical group while eventually establishing a fellowship program to better educate the next generation of surgeons.
