Ms. Schultz is a licensed clinical social worker with more than three decades of clinical experience. In 1987, she established her own private practice in Hinsdale, specializing in psychotherapy. Working with individuals, couples and women's groups, she focuses on healing those who are grieving, wounded, depressed or suffer from eating disorders. Ms. Schultz also provides coaching to people who seek to make a positive change in their lives or build self-esteem.

As a professional speaker, spiritual teacher and healer who shares empowering stories and motivates and inspires others to overcome obstacles and adversity, Ms. Schultz also teaches others about the process of going from wounded to wonderful. She hosts a spiritual development group, through which she helps individuals grow, become more grounded, and listen to the lessons of the Kabbalah. Ms. Schultz notably has experience with other spiritual mediums other than Kabbalah as well, including Reiki, intuition training and healing with light.

Renowned for her work, Ms. Schultz has served as a keynote speaker for various schools and organizations and as a group leader for the Optifast Program at Oak Park and Aurora. She also taught courses on social work at Moraine Valley Community College and on eating disorders at the College of Dupage. Moreover, Ms. Schultz has worked as a grief support counselor for Adolf Funeral Home from 2008 to 2019. Karen pioneered healing workshops and groups for the bereaved.

Karen and Balboa Press published a new book in 2020 on women's empowerment, Little Karen and the Egyptian Priestess. The book is about how adults heal childhood wounds and trauma. In 1993, Ms. Schultz authored her first book, The River Within, which was followed with Shelter in the Forest: Discovering the Power of Intuition, Flashes of Brilliance and Giving Up the Ghost: Let Go of the Grief and Restore Your Life. Additionally, she was a contributing author and editor of The River Within, a newsletter she managed from 1989 to 2000. A registered member and diplomate of the National Association of Social Workers, Ms. Schultz is also a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

An alumnus of the State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY Binghamton), Ms. Schultz received a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1980. She began working as a unit director and administrator at Camp Algonquin in Illinois in 1981. Karen received her Master's degree in social work from the School of Social Service Administration of Chicago in 1982. After graduation she worked as a clinical social worker for United Charities in Chicago and went into private practice in 1987. Ms. Schultz is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Illinois. She was later employed as a social worker at Hartgrove Hospital in Chicago between 1986 and 1987.
