Dr. Hagler is a renowned pediatric cardiologist and educator who has accumulated more than 45 years of expertise to the medical and academic fields. Aligned with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, since 1974, he was initially an associate consultant and consultant in pediatric cardiology before beginning his long and successful teaching career. After becoming an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Mayo College of Medicine, he was promoted to the role of an associate professor of pediatrics in the graduate school of medicine and, finally, a full professor of pediatrics and medicine in 1987. Additionally, Dr. Hagler earned distinction as the co-director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory during 1992 and contributed for several years with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, a governmental health sciences university in Bethesda, Maryland, as an adjunct professor of pediatrics.

Well regarded as a prominent figure in the medical field, Dr. Hagler has notably served on the board of the American College of Pediatricians since 2007 and as a consultant of the Circulatory System Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee since 2009. He is also a member of the editorial board of Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. Focusing his work on managing congenital heart disease in patients, Dr. Hagler has extensively studied the use of echocardiography and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures and has been involved in numerous clinical projects and collaborative studies over the years. He has disseminated many of his findings by authoring close to 230 scholarly articles in such publications as the World Journal of Cardiology, the Journal of Vascular Surgery and the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

An alumnus of Saint Louis University, Dr. Hagler received a Doctor of Medicine as a valedictorian of his graduating class in 1968. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include an internship and residency in pediatrics at Saint Louis University, a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center and a second fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School in Rochester. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Hagler is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is sub-board certified in pediatric cardiology. Prior to completing his medical degree, he served to the rank of a captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Dr. Hagler is an elected fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a master member of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions and a past president of the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography. Among other pertinent organizations, he is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Echocardiography, where he is presently active on the editorial board of its professional journal. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Hagler has been featured in the eighth and ninth editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and the 22nd and 25th editions of Who's Who in the Midwest.
