Through his research, he studies electron back scatter diffraction pattern acquisition and indexing, as well as orientation distribution function calculations and scanning electron microscopy employing secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Over the course of his career, he has contributed to a plethora of books, chapters in books, articles, poster presentations and journal papers, including "Additive manufacturing of bulk metallic glasses and their composites for biomedical applications," which was featured in the International Journal of Nanomedicine in 2018, and "To explore the implications of Materials Science and Engineering" that he presented at the Sixth International Conference and Exhibition on Materials Science and Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia.
Along with other scholars in the field, Dr. Rafique has co-written such publications as "Modeling and Simulation of Fluid flow in investment casting" and "Understanding Microstructural Evolution in ZrC Inoculated Zr47.5Cu45.5Al5Co2 via High Resolution SIMS." In light of his vast expertise, he is also a regular reviewer for the Journal of Materials Research, the Journal of Materials Processing Technology and the Journal of Electronic Materials.
During the early years of his career, Dr. Rafique honed his skills in machinery maintenance and optimization and production management in roles of increasing responsibility with Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited, KRL Pakistan, Qadbros Engineering and DESCON Engineering. Additionally, he had the honor of working alongside the best in the industry through internships with Henkel AG & Co., Sui Nothern Gas Pipe Lines Limited and the Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research Labs Complex.
An expert in his field, Dr. Rafique holds a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical and materials engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology in Pakistan, a Joint European master's degree in materials science from Technische Universitat and Universidade de Aveiro, a Master of Nanoscience through Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatia and Universidad del Pais Vasco, and a PhD in aerospace engineering from the School of Engineering at RMIT University in Australia. He remains abreast of changes in engineering and research methodologies through his affiliations with Engineers Australia, Amnesty International, ASM, AIST, the Materials Research Society, the Pakistan Engineering Council and the American Society for Mechanical Engineers. In the coming years, Dr. Rafique aims to continue conducting breakthrough research in the field.
