With more than 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Grimmett is currently semi-retired, excelling in a limited capacity as the founder of Grimmett and Company in 1978, and accounting and tax firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. He previously worked with Texaco Inc. between 1970 and 1978 and A.G. Edwards and Sons from 1968 until 1970. Mr. Grimmett began his career with U.S. Steel from 1965 to 1968. He was appointed to the position of Federal Bankruptcy Trustee in 1986 and continued in this position for 22 years.
Beyond his primary responsibilities in the field, Mr. Grimmett has participated in numerous endeavors within his professional circles. Providing his wealth of knowledge as a teacher, he taught tax and investment seminars in Utah and Nevada. He served for several years on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Bankruptcy Courts of Nevada and the Pro Bono Bankruptcy Committee for Clark County, Nevada. Mr. Grimmett was additionally active as a field representative for the Intermountain Oil Marketers Association in 1984. He has been certified as an expert witness in accounting and taxation by State and Federal Courts in Nevada.
He is currently the Developer of a 1,200 acre ranch resort in the foothills of the High Unitas in Kamas, Utah. He has coached Little League Baseball and Youth Soccer. Mr. Grimmett was a member of the Rotary Club in Cheyenne, Wyoming and was a Founding Member of the Green Valley Lions Club in Henderson, Nevada.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Grimmett pursued an education at Utah State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in business management with a minor in accounting in 1965. Following these accomplishments, he became a registered representative for the New York Stock Exchange in 1969.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Grimmett has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He is proud to have obtained key rulings before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit regarding trustee immunity and exemptions in bankruptcy for debtors, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States regarding the application of criminal laws to bankruptcy filings. Mr. Grimmett also cites his work alongside the Internal Revenue Service to develop a tip allocation program in Las Vegas, aiding a lawsuit in representation of Circus Circus and serving as a Court Appointed Receiver in both State and Federal Courts.
