Kathleen Vestal Logan Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    GULF BREEZE, FL, October 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Kathleen Vestal Logan with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Logan celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Logan celebrates a diverse and successful career that began in education as an elementary school teacher in California and Michigan from 1964 until 1967. Joining the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter, she served as an officer for six years and subsequently acquired positions as a consultant and trainer between 1981 and 2010, and as a counselor for the U.S. Navy Family Advocacy. Ms. Logan has remained active on military family issues since 1991.

An award-winning author, Ms. Logan published "Second Blooming for Women: Growing a Life That Matters after Fifty" in 2010 as its co-author, and her book "Women's Wisdom: Pass It On!" in 2015. The latter notably received a 2016 Bronze Award in the National Mature Media Awards competition, and was a finalist in both the 2016 International Book Awards and the 2017 International Book Excellence Awards. Ms. Logan has contributed many articles to various professional journals and magazines throughout her career. Based on research she did for her master's thesis, she wrote "The Emotional Cycle of Deployment" which was published in Naval Institute Proceedings in 1987. The article continues to be used throughout the military services and has been translated into several other languages.

As part of her dedication to her community, Ms. Logan has been involved with the Council on Aging of Northwest Florida for a decade as a board member and as its chairperson. She has played an instrumental role with the Poverty Solutions Team of United Way in Escambia County, Florida, in several capacities, including as the co-chairperson of the poverty information group. Ms. Logan is also a member of IMPACT 100, a women's philanthropy group.

Between 2016 and 2018, Ms. Logan was aligned with Pathways for Change in Pensacola, Florida, a faith-based, nonprofit family-services center that assists in improving the lives of disadvantaged people, while also reducing crime and building better futures. To wit, she contributed for two years teaching life skills to seven groups of women that were recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. In 2020, Ms. Logan established Together Pensacola: Building Our Community, a citizens' group that addresses racism in the Pensacola Bay area of Florida.

Ms. Logan attended the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1964. Continuing her studies, she attained a Master of Science in management at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1971, followed by a Master of Arts in marriage and family therapy at the U.S. International University in 1981. To support her professional endeavors, Ms. Logan has been a member of the business working group of Pensacola Women's Alliance and is active with Toastmasters of Cordova. She also co-founded a writers' group called Write On, Pensacola!

Ms. Logan has been recognized for her volunteerism on numerous occasions. In 2007, she and her husband received a Community Service Award from United Way of Escambia County, Florida. During that same year, she was acknowledged with a Distinguished Service Award from Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies for her volunteer service as Chair, Resources Coordinating Committee, during hurricane recovery efforts in 2005 and 2006. Ms. Logan was later named as an Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year alongside her husband by the west Florida chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2009.
