Dr. Kwang Kim Celebrated for Feats in Engineering

Dr. Kim is recognized for his achievements as the chief executive officer and research scientist at APLG LLC



    ITHACA, NY, October 30, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Kwang Kim has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As a child, Dr. Kim's interest in science—specifically, the study of technology and its use throughout various industries—only strengthened during his primary and secondary edification. A native of South Korea, he marveled at the advancements in mechanical manufacturing as he came of age and wished to contribute to the study of developing technological modalities. Subsequently, Dr. Kim resolved to pursue a higher education in material studies and different disciplines within the field of engineering.

Dr. Kim initially enrolled at Seoul National University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in nuclear engineering. Upon his relocation to the United States, he obtained a Master of Arts in material science and engineering from Cornell University. Thriving under the tutelage of his professors at the aforementioned university, Dr. Kim concluded his academic efforts by earning a Doctor of Philosophy in material science and engineering.

After accumulating decades of experience, Dr. Kim currently excels as the chief executive officer and research scientist at APLG LLC. While active in this capacity, he oversees investigatory projects in applied physics, engineering, materials science, applied mechanics, physical acoustics, acoustoelasticity, ultrasonic transducers, acoustic emissions, and nondestructive evaluation, etc. He made fundamental pioneering contributions to physics and engineering by establishing thermodynamics of elastic solids at finite non-hydrostatic stresses. Other important contributions in physical acoustics are the derivation of group velocity formulas for anisotropic solids, and the experimental observations of fast and slow transverse waves in anisotropic solids. His outstanding achievements in materials science and mechanics are the derivation of nonlinear elastic equations of state. His notable recent contribution to mechanical engineering is the design and construction of Absolute Precision Load Gauge (APLG). As a testament to his efforts, Dr. Kim has also published over 80 academic articles and technical papers regarding his life's work throughout his tenure. Dr. Kim maintains a professional and reputable relationship with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He attributes his success to hard work, dedication and an abiding desire to apply his research to scientific progression. Dr. Kim plans to continue his research at APLG LLC in the near future.
