Aman Kaur Shergill Celebrated for Dedication to the Fields of Education and Community Service

Ms. Shergill channels years of expertise into her work with the Winston Churchill High School Educational Foundation

POTOMAC, MD, March 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Aman Kaur Shergill has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Drawing upon several years of experience in the field of nonprofit organizing and educational advocacy, Ms. Shergill has garnered a lauded reputation as the chairperson of the Winston Churchill High School Educational Foundation, also known as the WCHS Educational Foundation. Established in the early 2000s, the volunteer organization notably leverages community support and charitable donations to fund school activities while providing vital support to those in need in the local school district of Montgomery County, Maryland. Recruited to the board of directors of the WCHS Educational Foundation in 2015, which includes parents, teachers, school alumni and students, Ms. Shergill has been distinguished as the executive officer and secretary to the board before accepting her current role, through which she provides leadership in strategic planning, event management and community outreach.

Prior to her current work with the WCHS Educational Foundation, Ms. Shergill had been active in a similar capacity with the Princeton Education Foundation. Throughout the course of her involvement with the Princeton Public Schools, she was instrumental as a facilitator for students in a charitable initiative, the Students Change Hunger Campaign, in 2014. For their combined efforts, Princeton Public Schools was bestowed with the New Jersey Governor's Cup.

Outside of her primary responsibilities, Ms. Shergill is a prolific fixture in other civic campaigns. She notably served a vital role as a member of the board for Communities United Against Hate, a nonprofit organization that fights against the forces of bigotry and aspires to create an atmosphere of inclusion and tolerance in Montgomery County. She has also contributed extensively to Sikh Kid to Kid, which seeks to foster social and religious acceptance in the local community. In light of her tireless work in social justice advocacy, Ms. Shergill earned a Bridge Builders' Award from the Interfaith Council of Metropolitan Washington in 2018.

Though her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Shergill is most proud to have empowered members of the community who have held the least advantages. Through the providence of an educational system that is both just and equitable, she aspires for students to lead lives that are not only successful but suffused with compassion and inclusivity. In accounting for her stellar success, she credits the influence of her parents and extended family, through whom she accrued a steadfast dedication to tolerance and social justice. Ms. Shergill has been tireless in passing this philosophy onto her own sons as well as to children everywhere.

More recently, Ms. Shergill has been utilizing her skillset towards alleviating food insecurity in her community. This she achieved via a program she was tasked to lead by Montgomery County Government, where they purchased Rice, Bean and Lentils and volunteers packed it into family size packs as there was a shortage in retail shops. This project facilitated a diverse range of over 240 volunteers at Guru Gobind Singh Foundation ~ Sikh Spiritual Center to execute the project and was a huge success in providing 8 - 10 thousand families on a weekly basis with a total of over half a million pounds of rice, beans and lentils.
