Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Dr. Khanna pursued an education at Delhi University, earning a Master of Science in 1967 and a Doctor of Philosophy in bio-organic chemistry in 1970. He subsequently immigrated to the United States to pursue postgraduate coursework at Columbia University. Upon the completion of his studies, Dr. Khanna found much success with Syva/Syntex, in which he advanced from a research chemist to the assistant director of research between 1977 and 1986.
Over the years, Dr. Khanna also garnered valuable expertise in drug discovery and clinical diagnostics through executive roles with Microgenics Corporation, Boehringer Mannheim/Roche and Microgenics New. In 2000, he established DiscoveRx Corporation, during which time he helped commercialize Enzyme Fragment Complementation Assay technology. Backed by more than 25 years of expertise in the biotechnology industry, Dr. Khanna currently excels as a private investor and advisor to various biotechnology companies.
As a testament to his wealth of knowledge, Dr. Khanna has obtained more than 50 patents and co-authored more than 100 professional articles. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, he has been affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Association of Clinical Chemistry. Outside of his primary responsibilities, Dr. Khanna has contributed to his community as a member of the board of Eschemia Corporation from 2004 to 2006 and a supporter of various small businesses in his region.
In light of his professional excellence, Dr. Khanna was presented with two Gold Medals from the President of India n 1965 and 1967 and a Bronze Medal from Syntex in 1986. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is incredibly proud of being a part of clinical diagnostics discoveries. Within the coming years, Dr. Khanna intends to utilize his expertise to mentor young entrepreneurs.
