An accomplished listee, Dr. Price celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Now retired after a long and rewarding career in academia and industrial engineering, Dr. Price earned distinction as a faculty member at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, for more than two decades. Hired as an assistant professor in the department of industrial systems engineering, he advanced to become a full professor, the director of the safety projects office, and the coordinator of the Human Factors Engineering Center on campus before being named as a professor emeritus in 1996. Though Dr. Price no longer teaches, he remains active as an expert witness in safety engineering and human factors, a service he has provided since 1978.

During the earliest stages of his career, Dr. Price worked as a research associate for Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in College Station and as a technical staff member of the autonetics division for Rockwell International in Anaheim, California. Additionally, he spent more than 15 years as a clergyman for the American Baptist Convention in California between 1953 and 1966, after which he became an engineer. Aligned with several review boards and committees during his career, Dr. Price was notably appointed as a member of the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board by President George H.W. Bush, where he had the opportunity to travel the world and research methods on the safe handling of nuclear waste. He also served on the International Standards Technical Committee, chaired the committee on transportation of hazardous materials on behalf of the National Research Council and, among other significant roles, earned distinction on the taskforce on pipeline safety for the National Academy of Sciences.

As a published author, Dr. Price has contributed books in the areas of religion, including the novel "Chasing the Fourth Horse" in 2009, and two non-fiction books, "Death, That's Life" in 2005 and "Why Christ is the Only Way" in 2003. He also co-authored several educational publications, including "Occupational Safety Management and Engineering" in 2000 and "Transportation of Hazardous Materials" in 1983 and contributed chapters to several books and articles to scholarly journals. Moreover, Dr. Price was a reviewer in his field and an editorial board member for the professional journal Human Factors.

An alumnus of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Price received a Bachelor of Arts on campus in 1952. Shortly thereafter, he completed both a Bachelor of Divinity and a Master of Arts at American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, California, in 1955, a Master of Arts in psychology at California State University in Long Beach in 1967 and a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station in 1974. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Price is a certified product safety manager, hazard control manager and human factors professional.

Dr. Price has been member of several leading professional societies. Among them, he is active as a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, the Human Factors Society and the System Safety Society. Dr. Price is also a member of the honorable society of Alpha Pi Mu.

Well regarded for his accomplishments, Dr. Price received several awards and recognitions over the years, beginning with an Outstanding Service Commendation from the transportation research board of the National Academy of Sciences in 1981. He also secured several grants from the Virginia Department of Transportation and Safety and IBM between 1977 and 1987, and, among other accolades, received the Jack A. Kraft Innovator Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in 1996. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Price has been included in nearly 50 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World.
