Ms. Lowe has excelled as the founder and managing member of Black Business Bus Tour (BBBT) LLC in Tampa since 2006. A recognized community and political organizer and campaign manager, she established her successful business as a way to raise awareness and promote African American-owned businesses. Equally important, Ms. Lowe wanted to establish partnerships, economic development and longevity throughout the surrounding communities.
BBBT notably offers tours to clients, linking them with established and up-and-coming businesses in the area and providing unique shopping experiences. Prior to each scheduled motorcoach tour, Ms. Lowe holds meetings with vendors and business owners to ensure that each event runs smoothly. At the conclusion of each tour, clients are then greeted by at least 50 African American vendors in food trucks to provide them with lunch. The BBBT notably celebrated its 15th year in business with a two-day event in June 2021 that was attended by the Mayor of Tampa and several city council members and county commissioners.
Apart from scheduling company tours, Ms. Lowe manages various social media outlets and participates in speaking engagements throughout Florida. In addition to running her successful tour business, she has been additionally active as a campaign manager, organizer and state representative for local elections in the Tampa and Saint Petersburg, Florida area since 2007. Ms. Lowe is hoping to expand her tours into other areas of Florida in the near future.
A seasoned entrepreneur, Ms. Lowe previously found success as the owner of a local tea shop in Tampa between 2003 and 2013. She also worked as a campaign manager, organizer and branding guru for Candy Lowe Enterprise between 2006 and 2014. Prior to establishing herself as a business owner, Ms. Lowe was a licensed practical nurse at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Florida for three years. She also served as marketing director and liaison for a couple of rehabilitation centers in the Tampa Bay area.
A talented artist, Ms. Lowe's paintings have been commissioned by local citizens throughout Tampa to create one-of-a-kind abstract oil paintings. She has notably held summer art classes and had the good fortune of displaying her portfolio of work at her tea shop in the past. The former founder and president of the Independent Black Chamber of Commerce, she has flourished as the founder and president of Tea and Conversation since 2004. A member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Ms. Lowe has also served as a donor for LinaBean Academy in Tampa, which focuses on serving children with attention deficit hyper disorder.
The BBBT has been featured multiple times in magazines throughout the state of Florida as well as in USA Today and The Black Enterprise. Ms. Lowe has also appeared on several local radio interviews in Tampa through which she had the opportunity to share the company's economic empowerment. Further interviewed by CNN and ESPN, she proudly accepted a City of Tampa Commendation for the Black Business Bus Tour in 2019 and 2021. Ms. Lowe was likewise presented with a Community Organizer Award from the George Edgecomb Bar Association, a Commendation Award from Senator Janet Cruz and recognition as the Best Community Activist by Creative Loafing.
