As an instructor of public health at Excelsior College, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses in public health, health promotion, health education and program evaluation. Ms. Jama-Adan has served as a data modeler student intern for the New York Office of Mental Health for over 4 years. Previously, Ms. Jama-Adan served as a clinical research professional for the Emory University Woodruff Health Sciences Center for 5 years.
Ms. Jama-Adan's exemplary performance in the field was born of her academic journey. She first sought an education from Columbia University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in gender studies in 2008. Following this accomplishment, she attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, from which she earned a Master of Public Health in 2010. In 2018, Ms. Jama-Adan completed a Global Health Certificate of Graduate Study program at the University of Albany. She is currently a candidate for her doctoral degree in public health at the State University of New York.
As a commitment to her field, Ms. Jama-Adan has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the New York State Public Health Association and the American Public Health Association. Well regarded for her indelible contributions to the field, she was bestowed with the Distinguished Service Award from her previous position at Emory University. Looking toward the future, Ms. Jama-Adan hopes to work in the context of health policy and health information technology management for pharmaceutical regulatory oversight.
