MOUNT DESERT, ME, September 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Moorhead C. Kennedy has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After serving in the United States Army between 1952 and 1954, Mr. Kennedy began his academic studies and graduated from the National War College, Groton School, and Princeton University, where he majored in Oriental studies. From there, he completed a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Harvard Law School in 1959 and joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1960, where he was afforded myriad opportunities to travel to such countries as Yemen, Greece, Lebanon and Chile. Subsequently, he served in the U.S. Department of State and, most notably, founded the Office of Investment Affairs, where he served as director for three years. This was recognized as the first time that the Department of Stated addressed institutionally the international role of major corporations.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Kennedy was recognized as a director emeritus for the National Institute of Social Sciences, a member of the Maine Library Commission, a representative of the New England Board of Higher Education and was posted and held hostage in Iran – his last overseas post – between 1979 and 1981. Further, he served as past chairman of the Northeast Harbor Library and the president of the Acadia Senior College, where he taught a course introduction to Islam. Upon returning to the United States, he eased into a well-deserved retirement and began applying the lessons he had learned over the years into a plethora of books, op-ed articles and lectures, focusing his lessons on cross-cultural problems across the globe and within the United States. Additionally, he has been a guest on television due to his outstanding breadth of knowledge and experience.
For his outstanding accomplishments, Mr. Kennedy has earned honorary doctorates through the University of Pittsburgh and Middlebury College, a Medal of Valor through the U.S. Department of State, and a Gold Medal through the National Institute of Social Sciences. Looking toward the future, Mr. Kennedy intends to continue parlaying his decades of expertise into various media. He enjoys gardening in his spare time.
