After beginning her career with U.S. Medical Group as an office manager during the mid-1980s, Ms. Anderson worked in a similar position in the finance department of U.S. News & World Report conducting credit and collections work. In the context of her role, she shared information about debtors or people that were committing fraud through her company's membership in the Advertising Media Credit Executive's Association (AMCEA) where she served on the Board, as an officer and eventually President of the nonprofit. Ms. Anderson additionally served as volunteer firefighter, emergency medical technician and adjunct instructor for Fairfax County, Virginia.
Over the years, Ms. Anderson gained valuable expertise in the field as the director of credit and collections for USA Today, the vice president of operations for Arcom Publishing, the director of publications for Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) and the vice president of the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC). Drawing upon her considerable experience, Ms. Anderson currently excels as the president and chief executive officer of Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Health-ISAC), an international nonprofit that offers healthcare stakeholders a trusted community and forum for sharing vital physical and cyber threat intelligence as well as best practices for protecting healthcare organizations against threats.
Ms. Anderson is currently Chair of the National Council of ISACs, a role in which she has served since 2009. She also serves on the Board of the Global Resilience Federation, is an active participant in the Cyber Future Foundation, belongs to a number of other nonprofit organizations and sits on several cyber advisory boards. She is a sought-after speaker on cyber and physical threats as well as information sharing and speaks at events all over the globe.
An expert in her field, Ms. Anderson completed the executive leadership program from the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Homeland Defense and Security, holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University and a Master of Business Administration in international business from American University. For her professional excellence, among her numerous awards and recognitions, she was presented with a President's Award from the Advertising Media Credit Executives Association, which has been one of the highlights of her career. Ms. Anderson also accepted a President's Award from Arcom Publishing and an honorable recognition from the Cyber Future Foundation.
Even though her career has been filled with standout moments, Ms. Anderson is honored to be the first female engine driver at the fire station where she volunteered. She also fondly recalls receiving a personal note from the former president of USA Today, Tom Curley, regarding how impressed he had been with one of her speeches.
