In these capacities, he conducts transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiograms. Earlier in his career, Dr. Papavassiliou worked at a private practice for six years and as a faculty member of the Columbia University Hospital for eight years. After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1984, he undertook residencies at the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Thessalonika and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Papavassiliou subsequently completed a fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia and Emory University Hospital.
Aside from his primary vocational pursuits, Dr. Papavassiliou is a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology, as well as a member of the American Society of Echocardiography. In accounting for his success, he credits his dedication to hard work and honesty, as well as the love and support of his wife.
